Get ready for a summer bursting with colour, creativity, and artistic exploration! The Rotary Arts Centre’s Summer Arts Camps are designed to inspire young artists through a dynamic and immersive program rooted in the visual arts.
Each week brings a fresh theme and an exciting lineup of hands-on art-making experiences, including:
- Painting with acrylics, watercolours, and tempera
- Drawing using pencil, charcoal, ink, and pastel
- Mixed-media collage combining textures, images, and found materials
- Sculpture with air-dry clay, papier-mâché, and upcycled materials
- Printmaking using block prints, stencils, and mono-printing techniques
- Crafting with fabric, paper, wood, and natural materials
From bold brushstrokes to delicate linework, campers will experiment with a wide range of professional tools and techniques as they build their skills and bring their imaginations to life in exciting new ways.
Led by visual artists and educators, the camps offer a nurturing environment where kids can dive deep into their creativity while also developing important life skills. Through both guided instruction and open studio time, campers are encouraged to take creative risks, solve problems visually, and collaborate with their peers—all while gaining confidence in their artistic voice.
Camp activities support:
- Creative thinking and visual storytelling
- Social-emotional learning and teamwork
- Observation, focus, and fine motor skills
- Confidence, imagination, and artistic resilience
Time for outdoor play and fresh air is built into every day, offering kids the perfect balance between focused studio time and energetic fun in the sun.
Each week includes a trip to the Corner Brook Public Library for a curated storytelling session that explores the links between graphic novels and visual expression—an inspiring look at how words and images come together to tell powerful stories.
Campers will also visit the Corner Brook Museum, where they’ll sketch from fascinating artifacts, blending historical observation with artistic interpretation.
For even more visual inspiration, campers can choose to enjoy a full-length feature film once a week on the big screen in the Rotary Arts Centre’s professional theatre—an exciting opportunity to experience cinema as a storytelling art form.
